As mindfulness is becoming more and more mainstream, it has been incorporated into many professional trainings. I have been able to receive specific training on the uses of mindfulness during my trauma-informed yoga certification training, and use it frequently in sessions, for a variety of indications.
Over the years, I have had a chance to learn about many different approaches to treating trauma. I am trained in TF-CBT, EMDR, and Trauma-Informed Yoga, and have basic knowledge of additional interventions (sensorimotor psychotherapy, structural dissociation, internal family systems).
"Stress" is a broad term, but it also broadly affects our society today, in ways that are becoming increasingly pervasive and toxic. Our daily lives can be incredibly harried, distracted, overloaded, and often debilitating. This accumulation of stress can have an impact on self-esteem, relationships, health, daily functioning, and sleep, to name a few. I use approaches based in mindfulness, CBT, self-compassion, boundary-setting, and self-care to help clients address sources of stress.
My clinical career has provided me with extensive experience around the many iterations of trauma, whether it is complex, attachment-based, or a single incident. Additionally, I am experienced in the many ways trauma presents itself, and the far-reaching impacts it may have. I use an eclectic approach to foster safety, integration, and healing, including EMDR, Trauma-Informed Yoga, attachment theory, Trauma-Focused CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion interventions.
I spent the first part of my career working exclusively with children, which included a large amount of caregiver support, and led me to seek more specialization to support new parents (partners included) during such a vulnerable life chapter. I am trained in Maternal Mental Health (including perinatal mood disorders) by Postpartum Support International, and have collaborative relationships with various members of the local birthing community (doulas, midwives, lactation consultants).
