About My Clients

My clients typically come to me to recover from trauma. Many of my clients are survivors of a rape and/or sexual assault(s). Other clients are recovering from an accident, have witnessed a trauma, and or are coping with a loss, or major life transition. My clients tend to be mental health professionals, healthcare professionals, advocates, students, lawyers, and activists. My ideal clients are folx living with PTSD who want to utilize EMDR or Brainspotting to address symptoms.

My Background and Approach

At the age of 19, I took a position at a Domestic Violence shelter. At that time I was a student of Social Anthropology and Gender Studies at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. Working at the shelter opened my eyes to so many layers of issues around class, race, sexism, sexual assault, and the problematic systems those of us with privilege create and maintain. I became curious about social justice. Initially, I believed I would be an activist full time. Later in life, while getting a Masters in Social Work in Washington D.C., I interned at the DC Rape Crisis Center and fell in love with clinical work. Throughout my social work journey, I have worked in domestic violence centers, homes for teen parents, sexual assault centers, community mental health centers, and in hospitals. When I was about 36 (I am 42 now), I was encouraged by a good friend to open my own business so I could practice more in alignment with my values.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Recently, I was volunteering with a support group for parents of transgender youth. I would provide childcare while the parents met. I also have volunteered tabling at PRIDE off and on over the years for various community agencies. I support Services De La Raza yearly through donation and recently donated art for the Black Women Denver Celebration Silent Auction. I have 3 pro-bono slots in my practice for folx of color. I am working towards eventually getting my sex therapy certification and recently attended my first intersectional Sexual Attitude Restructuring (SAR). I have so much to learn and am committed to continuing to challenge myself to stay open and curious.
