About My Clients

My clients are usually folks who identify as a member of the LGBTQ community and/or are impacted by ADHD or Autism. Clients often tell me that it's a relief to not have to educate/train me on various facets of their identity and that I don't focus on these facets unless they do. Often times, I hear that clients have had a negative experience in therapy because the therapist seemed disconnected, too uptight, or not transparent, and therefore enjoy the open and honest dialogue we have in session.

My Background and Approach

I specialize in working with Autism, ADHD, and LGBTQ concerns. I began my training and education in Autism in 2007. Many people in my life have been diagnosed with ADHD and as a partner of someone with ADHD, I am passionate about helping others who have a partner with ADHD. I have received specialized training in transgender healthcare and provide support to folks across the gender spectrum. I use concrete and research-based strategies to help clients address their concerns including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Gottman Method Couples Counseling. The approach I use is personalized to address the many facets of each client's life and needs.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I’m a cis, lesbian therapist and pet-parent to two dogs and a cat. My best friend and I decided to open our therapy practice because we don't fit into the mold of typical therapists and want to provide a place for others who don't fit inside the box. One of my favorite aspects of being a therapist is combining the counseling education, training, and tiny tidbits of my own life experiences in a way that allows me to help others create a new understanding of their own experiences. I bring my personality into sessions, giving straightforward and thoughtful feedback to help clients address the issues that are important to them. You will likely find me in casual clothes with tattoos peeking out here and there. I work to make my office a place where my clients and myself can be comfortable and authentic.
