I use hiking therapy as a means of connecting with nature, oneself, the environment, and sometimes, one's sense of spirituality. Research has shown time in nature to be therapeutic . Let's meet at the trail to experience this!
We have many parts or ourselves- often times, the parts of ourselves that we have difficulties with could use some care and attention. I use this approach to increase self-compassion and release unnecessary stress.
Exploring the past often brings understanding of how our minds were shaped, our fears or perceived limitations, and our relational patterns. Once we better understand ourselves, we can begin to create intentional changes that empower us.
As an anxiety support group leader, I have many tools to offer for anxiety management. We can explore thought processes, underlying traumas, as well as gaining skills to feel grounded, supported, and in-control.
PTSD and complex PTSD/ developmental trauma (typically resulting from neglect or abuse in childhood) require special attention and trauma informed care. Together we can navigate coping skills, learn about the manifestations, and find ways to strengthen our ability to feel in control, protect ourselves, and respond to ourselves with compassion and care.
Often we carry burdens passed on to us from our family or historical legacies within society. These are topics that we can address in therapy by examining family patterns, looking at genograms (family trees) and tracing back the roots of issues that you may be experiencing.
