CBT is a therapeutic approach that focuses on your thoughts, emotions and behavior. Your thoughts impact your emotions, which influence your behavior. Together we will work on changing your thoughts, which will change the emotion and therefore the behavior. It is a short term, goal oriented psychotherapy treatment.
Relationships can be complicated and at times frustrating. Times of hardship can make it difficult to maintain the strong connection you once had. Sometimes in our relationships we experience hurdles such as betrayal, lack of intimacy, parenting differences, juggling careers, family expectations, gender role conflict, financial strains, etc. I serve as a neutral voice to help couples sift through the issues they are dealing with to find solutions and answers.
EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach that helps people heal from traumatic life experiences. When you are exposed to a traumatic event, the memories associated to the adverse life experience remain unprocessed to protect you. These unprocessed/stored memories remain stuck in your brain which may be linked to your negative thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is designed to reprocess these memories until the memory becomes less disturbing and replaced with healthy thoughts and beliefs.
Depression can feel as though you are trapped in a dark tunnel with no light at the end of the tunnel. I am here to tell you, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and I am here to help you walk through it. Together we will address the core of where these symptoms stem from, we will work through them and replace the negative thoughts and feelings with healthy alternatives.
I work with clients who suffer from chronic and acute anxiety. Identifying healthy coping skills to alleviate and minimize the symptoms are important. I also believe EMDR therapy is a great form of therapy to help treat anxiety.
I am a EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) trained therapist and strongly believe trauma is key to many of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Together, we can work through addressing traumatic events that have occurred in your life that are transpiring into your present life today.
