About My Clients
Do you feel emotionally “maxed out”, like you are overwhelmed and tired of feeling stressed, worried, down, or irritable? Do you feel as if you have to solve everything on your own - and there is no one to turn to? Do you find yourself wondering if things will ever get better?? I hear you and understand what you are thinking and feeling. You don’t have to cope with these experiences in silence. Let me help you find your way back to the power and passion you know is within you.
My Background and Approach
Therapy can be hard work with growth and struggles along the way. Knowing this, I foster a collaborative and safe environment with my clients through active listening, support, encouragement, and challenging you to think and act in new ways that support your growth. If you are looking for a therapist that will listen to you, support you, and give you a new perspective on your unique situation, then you have found the right one. In therapy, we will put our heads together to find new and creative ways to leave struggles behind while also reconnecting you with your unique strengths. Clients and colleagues describe me as easy going and kind and this translates to my approach being warm and supportive, but I am also not shy to be direct with you, if it helps you to overcome the obstacles in your way. I am here to make sure you get the most out of your efforts. Together we will clear the path to a more deeply fulfilling, peaceful life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a first generation South Asian immigrant, I know the term “mental health” is nearly non-existent in most South Asian cultures. The idea that there is “nothing mental going on” or that your emotional/psychological pain is the result of being disobedient to your elders (especially if you are female), is far too common. I feel very strongly that we don’t have to allow the stigma of mental health and psychological wellness continue to interfere with our individual or collective growth. Despite the difficulties life gives us, it is so important not to lose sight of the need for joy in life. I have found my joy in sports, especially Chicago sports as well as (European) soccer -- Go Cubs! Go Arsenal!
