My Background and Approach
I have been working with individuals, couples and teens for 30 years, helping them to improve their relationships with partners, kids, others and themselves. I earned my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at San Francisco State University in 1987, which followed my Bachelors degrees in Psychology and Chicano Studies at the University of California, Berkeley in 1982. I begin my training in an organization that supported pregnant and new moms. Then I worked at a family service agency , as well as a Latino community mental health clinic for some years. I then moved into private practice and have worked closely with couples and individuals to address issues of anxiety and depression, as well as parenting, loss and grief, marriage counseling, and issues related to diversity and racial distress. In the last several years I have participated in specialized couples training and in mindfulness training. My focus is to assist with relationship building. I offer couples intensives.
